'A motorized robot disguised as a vehicle.'
This is not a final page. Due to the quantity of work required, this is a placeholder to at least provide some reference.
MC Toy are broadly known as the creator of the toys generally called Moto-Bots. While released globally under thirty or so different toy line names, MC Toy didn't actually ever distribute them as 'Moto-Bot' themselves.
Initially MC Toy attempted to distribute the line as Dynabot in the United States with hope to mirror their successful Canadian Dynabot line regionally distributed by Grand Toys. Unfortunately they likely ran into the same, early 80's problem Japanese company Bandai did.
Historically, Bandai experienced a similar stalled distribution when first attempting to market their Machine Robo Series figures in the United States. Released on cardbacks as 'Machine Men' (Robot Machine Men in Canada), they were unable to gain US market interest. Bandai cancelled that line and engaged Tonka who better knew the US market and Gobots were born.
In similar fashion, MC Toy partnered with Intex / Zee Toys to handle US distribution and the result was Moto-Bot. MC Toy did keep Dynabot running in the US for a couple of waves then seemingly shifted Wave 3 to Italy and South Africa; see MC Toy Dynabot page this section.
The reason for the name change from Dynabot to Moto-Bot is unknown. Some possibilities could be, FCC import / sale regulations vs. patent registration, Intex advised it was a more US centric name, separation from Intex's existing Dyna-Flites and Dynawheels lines, etc.
The Moto-Bot distribution is a snowballing convolution for completist collectors. There are five distinct waves easily identified by the blister card backs. It starts getting messy in Wave 3 where there are a further three cardback designs; shown below. In addition, it wasn't a clean cut, these figures came in Wave 1 and these in Wave 2 distribution. New waves were added as MC Toy developed the line. This saw subsequent waves likely include all previous models and colour variations (as of 2026 still to be confirmed) as the line rolled out. For collectors, the orange Dump Truck may have been released seven times, on seven different cards during the Moto-Bot run.
The word 'may' is important as, while the rear of later cardbacks show an increasing assortment range, to date, not all figures and colour variations have been sighted on all cards. The blue Dump Truck for example, may not have been released on the Wave 5 card even though it's referenced on the back; to be confirmed.
Wave 3 also appears to be a manufacturing transitional period for MC Toy and likely when they began the migration from their 1967 started May Cheong Plastic Toy Factory to the new May Tat Toy Products Factory; move completed in 1985. This sees examples of the Jet with light or dark red plastic parts, stamping changes, the Train can sometimes come with a gold country of origin sticker and the yellow Pick Up having the earlier CRAGAR paint application change to the silver stripe design. There's very likely other still unsighted changes made during this period.
This line will be an ongoing project to properly document for some time to come.
All include both die cast metal and plastic components as well as the synonymous pull-back motors
See toy line main index and history for further details and toy heights.

Cardback Variants
Wave 1 - shows only the Dump Truck and Pick Up on the back
Wave 2 - shows the Dump Truck, Pick Up, Train and red, non-Military Jeep on the back
Wave 3 - has three card versions relating to text variations; see comparison image below. All show the Wave 2 assortment with the addition of the Jet and Military Jeep
Wave 4 - shows the same assortment as Wave 3 cards with the ATV Trike now added, shoehorned in at the top of the card
Wave 5 - introduced a new format that includes the full assortment bar the Pick Up Camper. As it uses the same mould bar the back as the Pick Up, it's only mentioned as '8439 Ranger' in the Pick Up's row. Interestingly, one of the Dump Trucks, presumably the blue one, is now listed as '8438 Air Cargo Truck' for product identification.
The product #29583 remained the same throughout the line, while the first part of the barcode for Waves 1, 2 and 3 was 58257 and 78257 for Waves 4 and 5.
