'A mobile one minute. A robot the next!'
Magical Mobiles was a licensed distribution and likely manufacture by Blow Plast Ltd. in India of MC Toy's prolific Moto-Bot robot figures.
LEO Toys AKA Mattel LEO came into existence when Mattel tried to sell their products, largely Barbie, Hot Wheel and Masters of the Universe to the Indian market. To avoid strict trade regulations, Mattel created a partnership with India based Blow Plast (primarily a luggage manufacturer) who would in turn manufacture Mattel products in India. Blow Plast then also released toys from other creators and IP owners such as MC Toy. Whether the agreement with Mattel wasn't exclusive or Blow Plast unethically courted other toy entities is unknown. Mattel ended the arrangement with Blow Plast in 2000 on the grounds of lower than agreed production quality.
While for many country's distributions of the MC Toy figures the toys were made in Macau and freighted to the distribution region, the LEO Toys figures may well have been made in India. Neither the main figure or the motor has a country of origin stamp and the area where it should be on the motor is a vacant oval shape showing the mould has been modified. LEO Toys were manufactured in Nagpur and Mumbai (formerly Bombay).
LEO Toys also released numerous other toys in similar packaging to the one shown below, an example being 'Windup-Wonder' that included vehicles and walking robot toys.
See toy line main index and history section for further details and toy heights.
