Enforcer - Mysterians

'With Secret Attack Droid' - Marchon

Enforcer is arguably the most humanoid of the Mysterians with a clearly defined head, arms and legs with knees and feet.

Its body includes a chest compartment that contains a 'Secret Attack Droid with Movable Pincers'. The head both rotates and flips back to reveal a 'Cross-hair Target Locator'. It unfortunately doesn't have a lens similar to the vintage 12" Six Million Dollar Man or Boba Fett so you can't actually look through it and see anything. It's just clear-ish plastic that's impossible to see detail through and it's a shame as it's one of the figure's two secret features. Maybe the intent was that Enforcer uses it.

Enforcer is by far the hardest Mysterian to collect and may have been a low production run / short cased release. There's nothing specifically fragile about Enforcer to have seen significantly less of it survive to today vs. the other five.

ENFORCER - 10.5 cm

Mysterians US/CA/AU Marchon 1984

Prototypes There were at least two prototypes, one can be seen on the front of the figure's cardback showing Enforcer with yellow eyes. The top plate of the Secret Attack Droid where its eyes are is also yellow while the pincers are black. This is likely a hardcopy or even hand painted example for marketing to use that was changed not long before release to the production colours. This version seems to also have been used in part by the card artist as the yellow eyes are also present there.

The far earlier prototype seen below is electroplated in a gold-like metal; confirmed not real gold.* The most significant structural difference is the inclusion of metal pins through the feet that attach swing out toes. On the production version these are simply cast as a fixed part of the foot. The panels that hold the arms are also installed on the opposite side to the retail figure. This brings the shoulders forward toward the chest and makes for better arm placement from the front. This may have been changed due to the added level of fiddliness the arm mode change gains in this configuration, or it could have just been an error. Again, the cardback art reflects this with the shoulders shown at the front of the side panel, likely indicating the panel change was made very close to Enforcer going to production.

* the gold is very likely linked to the planned Knickerbocker Goldar figure discussed on the main Mysterians index page.
