Space Warrior - Robot Changers

Super Dimension Century Orguss Orgroid

Originally designed by Takatoku in Japan for their Super Dimension Century Orguss line and sold as the 1/62 scale 'Drifand Orguss-Orgroid Variable Type DX', the model was later acquired by the Japanese company MARK.

It's unclear whether MARK acquired the moulds and license prior to Takatoku closing down or as a result of them ceasing business. MARK distributed the figure directly to the West renamed 'Space Warrior' as part of their European, Robot Changers toy line.

This is a larger scale model vs. the more common Robot Changers Space Skyhawk / Convertors Zardak versions and it did not see inclusion in the SELECT Convertors line. It did however see distribution in the French Hergoss line released by Savie. How Savie were able to use so many of the Macross, Orguss and other series related models is still unclear.

Interestingly the toy does not display a manufacture's stamp.

See main Convertors & Robot Changers index page for more details.

Prototype The photographs of both colour schemes shown on the box have red wings vs. wings matching each version's body colour. As these are the only known releases of these colour schemes, it's likely the photographed example was a prototype or hardcopy.

COLLECTOR NOTE: The Battle Satellite / Gerwalk mode requires the hip joints to be pulled out from the body. On the examples seen so far, unsafe force is required to achieve this. The screws on the figure's back need to be loosened to extend the hips safely.

CREDIT: Great appreciation to Colin Frith and Iacopo Gobbato for providing background history on this model. Iacopo also kindly provided photos of the Hergoss packaging.
